Why do we use boats?

There is an amazing thing that happens to a person when they step aboard a boat. As the sails are trimmed and the course is set for sea, baggage is left ashore and a fresh outlook takes shape. Organizations have known this forever and effective programs from juvenile rehabilitation to business executive retreats have been happening aboard boats for centuries.

There are over 500 locations worldwide where someone can do a DTS (Discipleship Training School). Destination Paradise offers one of the few on the water and one of the few with an inherently cross cultural aspect by the nature of the fact that the vessel is mobile with the ability to travel anywhere in the world. In other words, we take the classroom to the world rather than having the world come into the classroom.

Finally, the age group we reach, from 18-33 or so (average about 23) is really into adventure and living life fully. The adventure aspect of sailing, traveling and many activities that can be done from boats is not only attractive but also provides a great backdrop for reinforcing and strengthening that drive and desire for a meaningful and purposeful life.
